Yr 13 - Miss Rebecca Lowry
Welcome to the Year 14 page. Scroll down to see some of the things we’ve been up to this week!
What an incredible and inspirational week we had in the Hive. The week started with interview practice, the pupils interviewed one another before they went to Mrs Yeates Office for individual interviews for jobs in our Beehive Cafe. Well done everyone, you were great! We had information sessions with Orchardville, Cedar, Disability Action and Rutledge. The highlight of the week was the inspirational talks from our past pupils, Steven Woolley, Joseph Lansdell, Grace McCauley, Jason Rossborough, Kile Fortune, Suzie Mason and Leon Moody. It was great to see them all again and hear about how they have successfully transitioned from Killard House to the next chapter in their lives. We hope their stories will inspire and build confidence in our current pupils as they transition away from Killard either this year or next year. Well done and thank you to everyone for their contributions to Careers Week 2025.
The Rugby Six Nations starts this weekend and we are looking forward to supporting our allocated teams! Good luck to all teams involved!
We visited Stormont parliament buildings. It was such an interesting tour where we learned more about the history of Northern Ireland and some of the political processes.
WB 13/01: we’ve had a jam packed week including SERC, work experience, Beehive Cafe and first aid training!
Our Killard House School reindeer, as created by our amazing key stage five students, is now available to visit in Bloomfield Shopping Centre!!
Happy New Year everyone and here's to a happy and healthy 2025! Our first week back included the first snowfall of the year, and half of the class went to Auntie Anne's to have a pretzel workshop with Big G from Elim! The other half of the class will get their turn next week. We have started back at SERC, and this term our Leisure For Life topic is taking us to The Bangor Aurora Leisure Centre! There's so much to look forward to this coming year!
Jonathan is our newly-appointed Re:Source supervisor. This week he showed Liam and Dylan the ropes in Source Cafe. Jonathan went through the Re:Source programme himself and now has a job in the cafe, so this is a full circle moment! He says both boys did a fantastic job on their first 'shift'! Well done!
Keep your eyes peeled in Bloomfield Shopping Centre for our Donaghadeer!... He's currently still a work in progress but looking amazing already!
